I wanted to take a few moments and share with my blog readers some of my favorite portraits. The portraits shown were taken during the past two years, I really have not concentrated my efforts much towards portrait photography but now I am looking to book portrait work. I have experience working with models, actresses, high school seniors and with family portraits, please feel free to contact me if you would like to schedule a portrait session, fees vary based on location and what you are looking for so contact me with more information.
So lets get started, first up the lovely Felecia a local actress and promotional model I met and became good friends with since, the image below is from our first photoshoot together and it remains to me my favorite portrait. The image was taken on the campus of South Eastern University.
I entered that shoot with no experience shooting portaits and left the shoot with a desire to create more portrait images, but I rarely had the opportunity to schedule a shoot, most people interested in portraits wanted weekends and my weekends were filled with my sports work so I took the few opportunities I had to add to my portrait portfolio.
Another session I enjoyed shooting was with Priscell, for this we met at City Park in New Orleans, Louisiana, and shot a few of the images at places nearby City Park I have several images to share from this shoot. The first photo below a head shot is another one of my favorite images, yes, some will point out the shadow cast against the wall, but again I was very new to portrait work and in the process of learning lighting techniques, I am not perfect by any means but I feel the the shot created was an incredible image of Priscell.
The remaining shots from this photo session took place on the campus of a nearby school.
The shot below has some obvious flaws, the sun hitting the side of her face, but at the time I was working with natural light, the clouds in the sky didn’t cooperate to provide me a natural softbox, the composition of the image is what I was satisfied with, I now work with equipment that can eliminate most lighting issues I might possibly encounter during a shoot.
The one shot I absolutely love and wouldn’t mind seeing it hung on a wall as a piece of art is the photos with Priscell atop the Waterfall.
Moving on and actually going all the way back to 2006, a photo of Ashlie taken during a photoshoot for Tap Out Magazine, it wasn’t the photo selected for publication but I had to include this shot of Ashlie who at the time was a UFN Ring Girl.
On to a Baton Rouge photoshoot, a young model Carley poses near the riverfront.
The next photo resulted from a little luck and another job, I was sent to Florida for some work one evening on a real estate job, I really hated not to take advantage of being near the Florida beaches so I scheduled a photoshoot later that evening with Angel, time was scarce as the sun began to fall to night, but in the thirty or so minutes we had I got this shot below I liked of Angel.
I returned to City Park for a Senior Photo session with the sister Amanda the sister of my friend and model Felecia who was featured in the very first image of this post.
I have also ventured out of the realm of the standard portrait photo, sure that’s what some clients are looking for sometimes people contact me looking for something different, here are just a few of those photos.
Finally below a few photos from a photography work shop of sort that I attended where I met some very talented people including a model/photographers Jen LeBlanc and TahJah Krauss model Bliss Kelly as well as an incredible make up artist Lauren Kattan, I hope to work with both again in the future, the opportunity just hasn’t presented itself yet.
Did you create your own blog or did a program do it? Could you please respond? 32
