PGA Tour back in New Orleans with the Zurich Classic

Well, sorry folks there has been a bit of a lull in updating the blog, why you ask? Unfortunately since the end of the NBA regular season I have not had much work. I was originally scheduled this weekend to travel out of town for Talladega Alabama’s Nascar race weekend, that didn’t work out so on Sunday I had an opportunity to shoot a little bit of golf. Early on in the day I was becoming frustrated with not getting the shots I was looking for but by the end of the day I felt pleased with what I shot overall on the day.

The Zurich Classic of New Orleans brings in some of the top PGA Tour pros to New Orleans, but unfortunately that roster of players did not include Tiger Woods. I’ll be honest I don’t follow golf very closely so I only know a few players by name and most of the players that I knew of were not all that competitive in the tournament so I focused my attention with the course leaders the leader going into the day was Jason Bohn and he went on to finish that way as well.

Below is a shot Bohn as a celebrated following a winning putt on the 18th hole, and you would celebrate too if you had just won $1,152,000 the sum of his winners check.

The shot shown below is simply a shot as Bohn tees off earlier during the day, because he was the leader it was one of the first photos I transmitted when I sent in photos earlier in the day. The reason I mention that, is the photo was already on the wire and as soon as Bohn was declared the winner it ended up being posted on the front page of ESPN.com’s Golf Page, it was also featured by USA Today.com

Ok that’s enough on Jason Bohn, some of my other favorite shots on the day included some sand trap action and a alligator lurking in the lake between the 16th and 17th holes, yes I said a Live Alligator and according to TPC Louisiana course personnel the gator is named Tri-pod because he only has three legs after another gator bit one of his legs off. The funny thing was there is a sign “Beware of Alligators” and it features a drawing of a alligator with three legs. On my first trip to the 17th hole the gator was no where in site, so I just got a photo of the sign.

When I returned later in the day, I saw the gator floating near the short of the 17th hole green and got the shots below.

Tri-pod never made it shore as far as I saw today, I was really hoping that the gator would crawl up to the bank and sun itself, or open his mouth a bit so I could see his jaws, but no luck there, I was pleased with the shots I got, I wanted to capture a few shots of the gator and the mission was accomplished.

Next up several of my favorite shots from the sand trap on the 18th hole at TPC Louisiana.

I’ll close out today’s blog entry with photo of a local golf favorite, David Toms and although he wasn’t the tournament winner, pictures of him may be valuable to local magazine clients and as stock images down the road.
